Stress

For the most part, seismologists spend their time quietly sifting through data, which probably isn't the most stressful thing in the world. Still, there is stress to be found.

Working in the wake of major natural disasters—stressful. Being away from your family for long research trips—stressful. Measuring underwater explosions in search of oil on the open sea—that has to be kinda stressful.

Really, it depends on what kind of seismologist you are. If most of your days are spent cooped up in a lab, then the most stressful thing you'll have to deal with is that annoying guy who talks to himself in the cubicle next to you. But if you're out in the field, you might be on shakier ground.
