Since you don't exactly have solar engineers showing up for every career day at elementary school, this career path is often less attractive than, say, a police officer. You probably don't see many offices advertising solar panel installation or factories promoting solar energy, either.
It may not be the most popular job in the world, but look on the bright side: That means there's more room in the field for those who are truly interested. Your odds of getting in will largely depend on living in the right area, but so long as you do, there should be work for you.
