Stress

Every NCAA athlete deals with crazy amounts of stress. Are you capable of training four to five times a week during the season, for several hours a day, while also leaving time to do homework and study? If not, you better run. Run while you still can.

In addition to the two full-time jobs you take on as a student-athlete, you'll have to stay on-point mentally and stay sane, even when dealing with harsh weather conditions, long tournament trips, and constant fatigue. Remember to breathe, Shmoopers. Breathe in, breathe out.

Players also need to have the discipline to shake off mistakes and move on to the next play. Remember, it is only you and your partner out there, and your entire team is relying on both of you to give it your all.

Aside from the team and pairs championships in May, your squad will be constantly on the move during the regular season. You'll have tournaments and matches on the weekend, which will only make it more challenging to stay on top of your course load. But we know you can do it. We believe in you. We just want you to know what you'll be getting yourself into.
