Paradise Lost

Paradise Lost

by John Milton

Analysis: Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

R

There are several sex scenes in Paradise Lost. In Book 2, we learn that Satan had sex with his daughter Sin and produced Death, who in turn raped his mother Sin. As a contrast, in Book 4 Adam and Eve go to bed, and Milton tells us that they have pure, innocent sex. Finally, after eating the Forbidden Fruit, Adam and Eve have lustful sex that, at least in terms of its diction, resembles the infernal sex scenes in Book 2. Milton really drives the point home that Adam and Eve's sexual relationship after the Fall is very impure.
