Roy (Rutger Hauer)’s Timeline and Summary

Roy (Rutger Hauer)’s Timeline and Summary

  • After escaping slave labor on the off-world colonies, Roy meets up with Leon, another replicant.
  • Together, Roy and Leon go to the freezing cold lab of a genetic designer named Hannibal Chew, who designs replicants' eyes. Roy and Leon threaten Chew, forcing him to tell them who can get them to their creator, Dr. Eldon Tyrell. Chew says a man named J. F. Sebastian can help.
  • Roy unites with his girlfriend, Pris, at Sebastian's apartment, where Roy forces Sebastian to take him to Tyrell's penthouse.
  • At Tyrell's place, Roy demands that Tyrell—his creator and the closest thing he has to a father, in a weird way—extend his and the other replicants' lifespans beyond the four-year limit.
  • Tyrell says he can't—or maybe just won't—help. Roy crushes his skull and gouges his eyes in. He kills Sebastian, too.
  • Heading back to Sebastian's apartment, Roy arrives to discover that Deckard has already killed Pris.
  • Flipping out, Roy manages to break two of Deckard's fingers before chasing him around the apartment.
  • Symbolically, Deckard drives a nail through his own hand and then catches a dove in one of the rooms.
  • Roy finds Deckard dangling off the roof but shows him mercy and saves his life. After giving a poignant dying speech, Roy's time limit is up. He releases the dove and dies.
