Character Analysis
Nat is Lucas and Molly Beauchamp's youngest daughter. In "The Fire and the Hearth," she secretly marries George Wilkins. When Lucas tries to report George's whiskey-making operation to the cops, Nat conspires with George to dump George's still on Lucas's backyard. Not surprisingly, it's Lucas who gets into trouble.
Nat's married life gets off to a bad start since George uses the house-repair money to buy another still. Nat complains to her parents about how useless George is. Nat's portrayed as a schemer whose schemes come back to bite her.
