- Katsa and Po begin training together, and she finds him a "marvelous opponent" (10.1). They're fairly evenly matched, though Po always walks away much more bruised and sore than Katsa.
- Their bouts regularly draw an audience, and over time Katsa and Po become friends. For the first time in her life, Katsa finds Randa's court a pleasant place to be.
- Po tells Katsa about life in Lienid, his six brothers, their seven castles (plus the one that belongs to his dad, the King). It all sounds pretty nice, especially considering its fabulous views of the sea—something Katsa's never seen.
- Tealiff wakes while they're talking and calls Katsa over to him, telling her that her eyes make him stronger.
- Katsa smiles, and the three share more stories of Po, his castle, his family, and their city in the sky. Good times.
