And they shall go out and look at the dead bodies of the people who have rebelled against me; for their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh. (KJV 66:22-24)
Here, sin is itself the worm and the fire that respectively devour and burn the corpses of the wicked. It's worm-like because it gnaws and burrows on the inside. It's like fire because of its ability to consume and destroy everything.
