Character Role Analysis

Campbell and Kraft

Our two resident spies with creative alter egos are disgruntled mirrors of each other. Campbell wrote beautifully before participating in the world of espionage, and Kraft picked up painting during his spy years in the U.S. That's not all: both are estranged from their wives and living in sad apartments in the early '60s. How do they differ? Simple. Kraft betrays Campbell, while Campbell betrays millions of people by playing a Nazi propagandist just a little too well.
