Britta

Britta seems like an unlikely companion for Miri at first; after all, she's a lowlander, and we all know what they say about lowlanders (hint: snobs). But it turns out that Britta and Miri have more in common than they thought—they're both ostracized by the other girls, and when Miri learns about commerce and quarry-speech, Britta is the first person she tells. By the end, they're a loyal duo and Britta's even staying over at Miri's house when they're all back in the village.
