Your Field Guide to Spotting Shu and Tefnut

When they aren't lion-shaped bookends holding up the sky, Shu and Tefnut appear in many forms. The most common ones you know are the wind and the rain, or dryness and moisture. You've probably met them several times today already. Be sure and say hello!

Shu

Sex: Male
Age: Adult
Build: well-built
Complexion: red-brown (in human form), gold (in lion form)
Hair Color: black (in human form), golden brown fur (in lion form)
Facial Hair: a long black beard (in human form). Hair everywhere as a lion!
Scars/marks/tattoos: none
Jewelry and accessories: a gold collar and bracelets. Sometimes, Shu wears an ostrich feather (the hieroglyph for his name) behind his ear, or tied to his head with a cord. When he's acting as Anhur, he might wear three or four feathers, or fake feathers made of gold, as a fancy crown.
Clothing: a white linen kilt
Armor: sometimes a golden scale mail shirt
Type of Weapon: strong winds

Tefnut

Sex: Female
Age: Adult
Build: tall and skinny
Complexion: pale yellow skin (in human form), gold (in lioness form)
Hair Color: black (in human form), golden brown fur (in lioness form)
Facial Hair: All kinds, when she's a lioness!
Scars/marks/tattoos: none
Jewelry and accessories: sometimes a golden collar and bracelets
Clothing: a tight-fitting dress, usually white or blue
Armor: none
Type of Weapon: water can be very destructive. So can lion teeth and claws! (Rawr.)
