Harry "The Steppenwolf" Haller Timeline and Summary

Harry arrives to the new town and goes wandering the streets at night.
He sees a magical doorway to a theater that says it is for madmen only and desperately wants to go in.
A strange man gives him a book about the Steppenwolf, and it's all about Harry himself.
Harry goes to eat dinner at a friend's house and leaves in a huff. He wants to go home and kill himself, but goes to a bar instead.
At the bar Harry dreams that he talks to the German poet Goethe, who tells him he's too serious.
A girl at the bar takes care of him, and he asks her out on a date.
On the date, Harry guesses that the girl's name is Hermine, and she tells him that one day he will have to kill her.
Hermine teaches Harry how to dance, and also sends her friend, Maria, over to be his lover.
Harry goes to a costume ball to show off his moves and search for Hermine.
He finally finds her and knows that they will be lovers.
Their friend Pablo invites them into a magic theater, where Harry sees many different scenes from his potential lives.
In the final scene, Harry kills Hermine. It turns out that it was all in the magic theater, though, and wasn't real.
Harry decides to try again and learn someday to laugh.
