Although The Glass Castle has no explicit sex in it, there are tons of allusions to sex—and not happy, consensual sex, either.
In The Glass Castle, Jeannette's brother is touched by his grandmother, Jeannette is touched by her uncle, and Jeannette's younger sister is touched by a stranger. There's a lot of inappropriate touching. Plus, Jeannette often wonders what a prostitute's actual job is, and did we mention that a man forces himself on her at a bar after being encouraged by her father to do so? Yikes.
On the other hand, while all these events are seriously disturbing, Jeannette doesn't go into too much detail, nor does she dwell on them.
