Brain Snacks: Tasty Tidbits of Knowledge

There is no sequel, so don't go looking for 2 Glass 2 Castle at your local bookstore. But the New York Times Magazine did catch up with Jeannette Walls in 2013. Once Jeannette published the book, she kissed New York—and her squatter of a mother—goodbye. But when the squat burned down, Walls took Mom in. Surprised? You might be surprised to know which siblings supported the book and which didn't. Brother Brian cheered Jeannette on every step of the way. Sister Lori wasn't a fan. And the book actually brought Maureen and Jeannette back together. (Source)

Remember Jeannette's grandmother? No, not the awful molesting one, but the one she actually liked: Mom's mom. You may not remember her, but Jeannette does, and she wrote a novel called Half-Broke Horses, which is a somewhat fictionalized version of her grandmother's life story. At least one Texas school totally banned The Glass Castle in 2014. However, the book was later reinstated, and Jeannette spoke at the school's literary festival. Scandalous. (Source and Source)
