Thérèse Raquin Chapter 14 Summary

  • The haberdashery shop remains closed for three days.
  • Mme Raquin is so devastated by her son's death that she hasn't left her bed.
  • Thérèse has also cozied up in bed for three straight days.
  • But then she breaks that ritual. On the third day, she ventures into Mme Raquin's bedroom. Such a long and difficult adventure.
  • In any case, Thérèse has been dreading seeing Mme Raquin. Since she knows exactly what happened to Camille and all.
  • While they're together, Thérèse pretends to fuss over her.
  • The next day, Mme Raquin forces herself to go downstairs and reopen the shop.
  • Way to pick yourself up off of sorrow's floor, Mme Raquin. You go, girl.
