Thomas More College

About Me

Intro

I was born in the 1920s as a small Catholic college (shout out to the Benedictine Sisters). I know what you're thinking, sister Thomas?

Well, if you check my birth certificate, it'll tell you that my name is Villa Madonna College. I haven't gone by that name in years, though, and these days everyone calls me Thomas More. I spent my early days in Covington, Kentucky, where I was utilized as something like a teacher factory, pumping out educated women and Catholic school teachers.

Though I was born to educate women, that didn't stop me from letting men learn in my hallowed halls, and around 1945, I officially went co-ed. My numbers swelled, and before long, my small Covington location wasn't a good fit for my swelling student body. At this point, I moved to my current home in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

These days there's plenty of room for my close to 2,000 students as they become experts in everything from business management to liberal studies. My name and hometown might have changed over the years, but my identity as a Catholic liberal arts college is solid and I'm still focused on churning out some of the best teachers in the country.

Hometown

These days, I call Crestview Hills, Kentucky, my home. I love it here. Crestview Hills offers up the wonderful greenery of a small town while boasting all the convenience of a sprawling suburban area. It's located in the Greater Cincinnati area (and just ten minutes from Cincinnati), so my students have access to all the restaurants, shops, and parks they can possibly desire.

Birthdate

Body Type

Even though I outgrew my childhood home in Covington, Kentucky and opened my doors to men many years ago, I'm not exactly huge. In fact, at around 1,900 students, I'm pretty small as far as colleges go. I figure this is a good thing, though. It means my students have easy access to their professors, plus my hundred-acre campus never gets too crowded. My students can enjoy the greenery without tripping over each other.

Current Living Situation

Many of my first year students live on campus—in fact, they pretty much have to. Sophomores do, too, as a general rule. See, I require anyone with less than sixty credits to live on-campus and use a campus meal-plan. Don't panic, though; I totally make exceptions as needed. My goal in making students stay on campus is to foster a campus community. And hey, living in dorms is kind of a right of passage, don't you think?

After meeting the credit requirement, though, students are free to find their own lodging wherever they please. With Cincinnati just ten minutes away there are plenty of options.

Relationship Status

I'm pretty friendly when it comes to my school rivalries. Check out my twitter, you'll never see me poking fun at anyone else or getting into tweet wars. I root for my boys and girls, but I also wish the best for my opponents. With my religious underpinnings, I don't play dirty.

Religion

I was literally made to train Catholic teachers...so yeah, I'm pretty Catholic. Don't let that scare you, though. My main goal is not to make you Catholic. I just want to educate you and encourage you to be the best you can be.

You should apply to me if...

you're seeking a vibrant Catholic community, or perhaps just want to join a football team. Seriously, we have over one hundred football players here—you'll have lots of buddies.
