Physical Danger

Physical Danger

There's not any serious physical danger connected to being an appraiser. Unlike housing inspectors, who climb ladders to check roofs, crawl under homes to check sub-flooring, and must check for faulty wiring, gas leaks, and plumbing issues, appraisers rarely conduct this type of search on a property. The home inspection report is one of the tools used to determine the home's value, but someone else puts that report together.

Appraisers do a lot of local travel and visit lots of different homes, so they do have some slightly elevated risk of being in a car accident or coming in contact with an unfriendly pet that may bite or scratch. All things considered, though, physical danger is pretty low for appraisers.
