Glory

These are not fish. (Source)

Fishing may be one of the messiest, sloppiest, wettest jobs in the world, but it is not without its moments of glory. Like when you've been out at sea for four days and all you've caught is sixteen plastic bottles, a couple bags of trash, and one half-eaten tire.

Everyone is tired and sore and cranky, but the crew gives it one more night, only to pull in the largest haul of the season. That's an incredible feeling, probably only matched by taking down a grizzly bear with your fists (probably).

Then there's the serenity of the sea. If you've ever spent any significant time on boats (and since you're considering this career, we really hope you have), then you know how tranquil the sea can be. You're also one of the few people who will actually observe every sunset and sunrise while on the job. Do you think your friends with office jobs get to do that? They don't even know what the sun is anymore.
