Brokeback Mountain Scene 16 Summary

  • Ennis and Jack spoon naked and enjoy a smoke in a motel room.
  • Things were so backwards in the 1960's. Gay men had to keep their relationships secret, but everyone could smoke cigarettes everywhere.
  • Jack wonders if they could ever have a future together, but Ennis says no. He's "stuck with" what he has.
  • "Do you take this woman to be stuck with for the rest of your life," wasn't exactly what the vows said, Ennis.
  • Speaking of stuck, his wife waits for him alone with the girls at home.
  • Ennis rushes in to pack and head up to the mountain for more fishing. Just for a couple days.
  • His little girl tells him to catch a "big one." (Tee hee. "Big one.")
  • Ennis leaves and Alma cries and cried and cries.
