Gemma

Gemma is obviously the star (pun fully intended) of this whole book. Even though she doesn't know what's going on at first or why the Death Walkers are chasing her, she rises to the occasion magnificently. Once she learns that she's humanity's only hope of survival, Gemma doesn't sit around or hide in the dark—nope, she helps Alex, Aislin, and Laylen fight off scary Death Walkers and try to find a way to stop the big baddies from freezing over the world. She even stabs one in the heart. What a true heroine.
