Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Chapter 14: An A-Z of Fantastic Beasts - F Summary

How It All Goes Down

Fairy

  • Fairies look like little humans with wings…but that's about where the cuteness ends.
  • Muggles tend to think that fairies are sweet, lovely, magical creatures, but, in reality, fairies are vain and kind of dumb. They don't have much magic in them and they can only talk to each other through buzzing sounds.
  • Take that, Tinkerbell.

Fire Crab

  • Fire crabs look like big tortoises except for their heavily jeweled shells.
  • They live in Fiji where they need special protection from both Muggles (who want their jewels) and wizards (those shells make good cauldrons).
  • The fire crab does have one big time defense—it can shoot fire out of its butt. Don't mess with it.

Flobberworm

  • Flobberworms are thick brown worms that move very little, eat a lot of lettuce, and, in short, are about as exciting as you'd imagine worms to be.
  • (Harry Potter book shout out: In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Hagrid has his class look after flobberworms after an action-packed first lesson with a real live Hippogriff.)

Fwooper

  • Fwoopers are beautiful, brightly-colored birds whose songs will gradually drive you insane.
  • It's very important to only keep them in the house with a Silencing Charm constantly updated.
