  • The Treaty states its purpose in the first line: to end the War of 1812 and create peace between the United States and Great Britain—represented by "His Britannic Majesty" (Intro.1), aka the king.
  • Naming names: the treaty lists all the "Plenipotentiaries" of the treaty. This means the people who executed, or signed, the Treaty.
