Sending the Message—Very Slowly

  • As soon as the Treaty is ratified, both parties have to send orders to their respective militaries to stop fighting. That means writing a letter and having it cross the Atlantic on a sailing ship.
  • Anything captured or taken after the Ratification of the Treaty within a designated period of time will be restored, because they know it takes a long time for the news to get around.
