Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Scene 9 Summary

  • At Pankot Palace, Indy and pals are greeted by a guy named Chattar Lal.
  • Lal escorts them to dinner, which also includes British Captain Blumburtt. We can't think of a name that commands authority as much as the name "Blumburtt."
  • Willie hopes the Maharaja will take her as his wife because he's so rich. Dude probably has a gold-plated toilet bowl.
  • But when the Maharaja enters, he's like, ten years old. Willie would rather leave the cougars in the jungle.
  • As Jones discusses politics and cults, the first course is served: Snake Surprise!
  • What's the surprise? The snake is filled with baby snakes. Yum yum.
  • The second course is a plate of giant beetles. Hey, they're just like big M&Ms when you think about it. Crunchy on the outside, melty in the middle.
  • Willie requests soup, and soup she gets.
  • But it's filled with eyeballs. It's not often your soup stares back at you.
  • As Indy talks of the Thuggee cult, a centuries-old group of assassins, the Maharaja speaks up, and says he will never allow something like that to happen again in his kingdom.
  • Yeah, we're sure a band of violent assassins is going to do what a ten-year-old tells them to do, but we admire your spunk, kid.
  • Finally, dessert! Chilled monkey brains. Willie faints. She prefers her monkey brains room temperature.
