Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen)’s Timeline and Summary
- Anakin and Obi-Wan work together to defeat Count Dooku and rescue Chancellor Palpatine.
- Padmé tells Anakin that she's pregnant, sparking terrible premonitions that she'll die in childbirth.
- Chancellor Palpatine appoints Anakin as his representative on the Jedi Council in order to have "eyes and ears" present for the Senate.
- The Jedi Council accepts Anakin but not happily.
- Obi-Wan tells Anakin that they want him to spy on the Chancellor.
- Palpatine tells him at a weird opera the story of Darth Plagueis, revealing that the dark side is powerful enough to defeat death.
- Anakin discovers that Palpatine is a Sith Lord (basically because the Chancellor tells him and begs him to join him on the dark side) and threatens to turn him in to the Council.
- He tells Mace Windu, who decides to confront Palpatine himself.
- Anakin walks in on Mace about to kill Palpatine. He needs the Sith Lord to try and save Padmé, though, so he slices off Mace's lightsaber hand, which leads to his death.
- Young Skywalker pledges his life to Palpatine and the dark side, as long as he can learn how to save Padmé.
- He is dubbed Darth Vader.
- He is ordered to kill every Jedi, including the younglings in the Jedi Temple, in order to become stronger with the dark side. So, he does.
- He checks on Padmé and tells her that he has to go to Mustafar to kill the remaining Separatists.
- He kills all of the Separatists on Mustafar, despite their pleas for mercy.
- Padmé meets him there to tell him what Obi-Wan told her, but Anakin spews crazy talk at her about his new powers being able to save her and ruling the galaxy.
- She cries and tells him he sounds loonier than Looney Tunes.
- Anakin strangles Padmé with the Force under the presumption that Obi-Wan has turned her against him.
- Anakin/Darth Vader battles with Obi-Wan.
- Eventually, Obi-Wan gains the high ground and cuts off Vader's arm and both legs in one powerful swipe. He leaves him there, burning in the molten lava, to die.
- Palpatine arrives on Mustafar and rescues Darth Vader.
- He is given droid legs and a droid arm, a black suit, and the iconic Darth Vader mask that allows him to breathe noisily. Transformation is complete.
- Emperor Palpatine informs him that he killed Padmé on Mustafar. He is devastated.
- At the very end, we see him admiring his Death Star under construction.
