Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor)’s Timeline and Summary

  • Obi-Wan and Anakin are gleefully battling droids to rescue Chancellor Palpatine.
  • He's flung across the room and left unconscious under a concrete balcony while Anakin fights Count Dooku.
  • They take on General Grievous and all of his minions, but he manages to escape.
  • After Anakin's appointment to the Jedi Council, Obi-Wan is asked to convey their secret message that they want him to spy on Chancellor Palpatine. This doesn't go over too well.
  • Obi-Wan departs on a mission to find General Grievous in the outer rim, but first, he stops to check in on Padmé (making Anakin suspicious of his old Master).
  • He gets to Utapau and discovers that's where Grievous is hiding.
  • Then, he swaps his fighter for an awesome giant lizard thing, which he rides directly into Grievous' lair.
  • Obi-Wan gets tired of spying, so he challenges Grievous to a duel.
  • They fight with lightsabers (Grievous gets four, the cheater) until those are lost in battle.
  • Then, they have a fantastic chase scene, which culminates in Obi-Wan finally defeating the droid with an uncivilized blaster.
  • After checking in with his troops, he goes off on his lizard but is blasted from the walls of the cliff after they receive Order 66 (the command from Palpatine to betray and kill every Jedi).
  • He's presumed dead.
  • But, he's not dead. He sneakily gets a fighter and meets up with Senator Organa and Yoda to figure out what is going on.
  • The three of them go to the Jedi Temple to figure out what is going on, and they discover the Chancellor and Anakin's betrayal.
  • Obi-Wan visits Padmé to try and figure out where he can find Anakin and in the process reveals his treachery.
  • When Padmé flees to get to Anakin, Obi-Wan secretly stows away aboard her ship.
  • When they land on Mustafar, Obi-Wan interrupts Anakin and Padmé's confrontation.
  • Obi-Wan and Darth Vader have an epic lightsaber duel.
  • The duel ends when Obi-Wan chops off both of Darth Vader's legs and an arm and leaves him to die on the edge of a river of molten lava.
  • He rescues the unconscious Padmé and goes to meet with Senator Organa and Yoda.
  • Obi-Wan observes Padmé delivering her twin babies and witnesses her death.
  • He, Yoda, and Senator Organa come up with a plan to keep the babies safe: Organa will take Leia and raise her as his own, while Obi-Wan will bring Luke to his uncle's ranch on Tatooine and watch over him from afar.
  • While in exile on Tatooine, Obi-Wan is supposed to undergo some intense training about how to commune with his old Master, who's dead.
  • We see Obi-Wan handing baby Luke over to his aunt and uncle and then walking off into the dual sunset.
