  • Nicole is too tired, but Rosemary, Dick, and the Norths go to an art exhibit. Rosemary feels better with Nicole gone; she’s scared of her.
  • The group has dinner on a houseboat and Rosemary drinks alcohol for the first time ever, champagne, and tells them it was her eighteenth birthday yesterday. Dick says that they will give her a dinner the next night.
  • Abe and Mary discuss their plans. Abe has to go back to America to work on music, and Mary has to go to Munich to work on her singing.
  • Abe teases Dick about not finishing his "scientific treatise," and Dick says he might just abandon the whole thing, shocking Mary. He politely refuses to discuss it.
