20-Year Prospect

20-Year Prospect

While this job probably isn't going anywhere anytime soon, cheering itself isn't exactly a long-term career path. Because of the intense physical scrutiny placed on cheerleaders, for your entire time spent cheering for the team you'll be one high kick away from being asked to split.

Plus, the average age of a professional cheerleader is twenty-five, so think of it as the base level of the human pyramid that is your overall career.

Don't put down your pom-poms just yet, though, because cheering can certainly open doors to new and exciting career paths. If you're an adept dancer, opportunities in the entertainment industry might become available after your cheering tenure. Also, with so many pro cheer squads getting their own calendars these days, you may find some modeling gigs tumbling into your lap.

While cheering itself isn't the most lucrative career option, if you've got a strategic mind for the long game, we're certain you can work the routine and nail the dismount without becoming broke (or breaking your neck).
