Fame
Since they don't have direct patient contact, it's kind of hard for a cytogenetic technologist to get famous. Sure, you may be well-known among your co-workers for your excellent job performance, friendly disposition, and epic Words with Friends score. But, getting famously famous? Nah, it's not really in the cards, or under the microscope.
Seriously, though, the kind of person who makes a great cytogenetic tech isn't usually the attention-seeking, life-of-the-party type who even wants fame. You enjoy just living and working in your little corner of the world. No entourage needed or wanted.
