Great! However, a lot of people are figuring this out, so it’s beginning to get a little less great. Competition is a bit stiffer nowadays for graphic designers. Each year more people graduate with a degree, which causes the graphic designer pool to expand. Fortunately, opportunities are growing at roughly the same rate. Employment is expected to grow 13% in the near future. Interactive media is an exploding field. Ever heard of Twitter? More and more graphic designers are needed to fill positions. And the demands are getting more challenging – they may need to design something in 140 characters or less.
