The Boy
- On the first snow, the Queen took some of her Druj hunters and went away for the hunt, stalking through the forest and asserting the Queen's rule over distant Druj tribes.
- When the Queen returned from this year's hunt, though, she brought back a surprise for Mab. The surprise was a human boy whose hair was the exact same shade of red as Mab's.
- The Queen went inside of Mab and brought her body over to touch the boy's; at the same time, one of the other Druj went inside the boy's body.
- With that, they took control of both the human bodies and forced them to perform sexual acts. Afterward, Mab came back into her own body and saw that the boy was crying. She reached over to touch the boy and comfort him.
- Months later, Mab found that she was pregnant and actually felt glad in a way—here was a part of her body that the Druj couldn't take away. She also worried about what would happen to her after she gave birth, though.
- Thankfully, Mihai helped her escape with Esmé in her belly. She still doesn't know why.
