The Kiss
- When James arrives at the party, Anamique is already waiting for him. She sees him admire her beauty; all she wants in the world is for him to kiss her.
- Throughout the evening, though, Anamique starts to worry. James hasn't asked her to speak or told her that he loves her like he always does. Has he changed his mind?
- He pulls her aside and takes out the ring, then asks her to marry him. Anamique opens her mouth to say yes, speaking for the first time ever, but James quickly silences her with a kiss.
- She realizes immediately that he hasn't kissed her because he wants to—he's kissed her in order to keep her from speaking. And this completely hurts her feelings.
- Anamique steps away and takes a deep breath… and then she starts to sing. She just has time to see James's eyes fill with tears at the beauty of her voice before the curse comes true.
