Mad Max: Fury Road Scene 26 Summary

  • Back at the Citadel, the crowds see the vehicle approaching. The young war boys start banging the drums and a platform is lowered.
  • Max hops out of the drivers seat, climbs onto the trunk, and shows everyone Immortan Joe's dead body.
  • The crowds rejoice—their oppressor is finally dead.
  • Max then helps Furiosa out of the car, and the two stand on the hood of the car, looking up into the Citadel.
  • The crowds begin to chant "Let them up," and the war pups decide to do just that.
  • A Vuvalini drives the car onto the platform, and the Citadel workers hoist them up into the air.
  • Now, instead of kicking the masses off the platform, the breeders and the Vuvalini help them up.
  • Meanwhile, from high above, the nursing mothers release the water from the aquifer and it rains down freely upon the masses.
  • The camera zooms in on Max as he watches, standing next to Furiosa.
  • But when the camera cuts away, Max is no longer there.
  • Looking for him, Furiosa spots him walking among the crowds below. He looks back up at her, and the two exchange a knowing nod.
  • As the movie ends, the screen goes black and displays a quote from "The First History Man": "Where must we go…we who wander this Wasteland in search of our better selves?"
  • Where, indeed?
