He Walks the Line
Out of all the characters in the book, we know the least about the man in black. He has only seven lines in the whole book, all during his mysterious schemes with William McIntyre. He doesn't seem to do anything, only observe, all creepy and silent in the background. Maybe he doesn't exist at all. He could be an urban legend like Slenderman. More likely we just have to wait until the sequel to know his true intentions.
