The Starlings

Character Analysis

Triple Trouble

The starling is a songbird. Originally from Europe, it was introduced to the United States by a group of wackos who wanted to bring every bird mentioned by Shakespeare to North America. The Starlings, capitalized, are not nearly as interesting.

Triplets Ned, Ted, and Sinead look like "a cloned Ivy League lacrosse team" (2.72), and that's not a compliment. They follow Amy and Dan in a car through the streets of Philadelphia, only to get lost by Nellie's clever driving. Then they ambush Amy and Dan at the Franklin Institute where they get blown up by a bomb intended for Amy and Dan.

Mr. McIntyre says they're recuperating in the hospital. Looks like they'll live to fight again another day. Or as the case may be, another book in this series.
