Midwinterblood Part 4, Chapter 9 Summary

  • When they get back home, Bridget scolds Merle for lying to her. Bridget actually knew she was lying because she had found the apples in Merle's bedroom, but still, it's not nice to fib.
  • Anyway, it's all over and it's kind of a good thing, because Merle's lies actually might have saved a man's life. Nice work, Merle.
  • Merle is pretty thrilled about meeting the old man and learning his name.
  • Bridget tells her daughter that they're going to help Eric out for a while. They'll bring him meals and Merle can pick him apples, but Merle must promise not to go out by herself again.
  • Of course, Merle says. And this time, she actually means it.
