Character Analysis
The narrator's wife is pretty darn minor as a character, but never let it be said that we here at Shmoop aren't thorough! Like Bernard V. O'Hare, she appears to be mostly a sounding board for the narrator. He tells her that he has written to the Air Force asking for information about Dresden, only to be told that the Dresden raid has been classified. While the narrator is working out how to write about something so horrible that it is beyond words, he keeps explaining different aspects of his project to the people in his life to try to get his own handle on what he wants to say.
