- Sunday, October 12, 1997 (Henry is 34, Clare is 26): Henry wakes up, smelling blood. It's Clare's second miscarriage.
- Monday, February 16, 1998 (Clare is 26, Henry is 34): Henry learns from Dr. Kendrick that they have found the faulty part of Henry's DNA. Now they're going to make time-traveling mice in order to study them and to find a cure for the condition. Henry and Clare are overjoyed.
