Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.

Who is this person? What does this person do? Where does the story about the person take place? Why is this person so arrogant that no one likes him? How do we know that this book isn't talking about us? Okay, maybe not the last two questions (since those involve inference), but this standard is all about asking questions like those to make sure students have a basic understanding of a text.
