You've probably seen this newfangled "baseball" thing on television—maybe in October when all those guys dog pile the mound for some reason. And hey, if they can do it, how hard can it be?

You do okay in the sandlot, but in most organized games, you find yourself sitting in the dugout and using your glove as a hand puppet. If that's your thing, awesome. Just don't hang out by your phone waiting for the Yankees to call.

You excel in one element of the game. Maybe your fastball is a blazer or your fielding makes Ozzie Smith weep tears of joy. But the other elements need some polishing. Don't get us wrong, you've got a shot. Better keep those grades up and have a fallback plan in case you can't quite make the cut this year.

So you've got the moves. More importantly, you're willing to do the work involved in taking them to the next level. You feel like Hank Aaron (or maybe Nolan Ryan) every time you take the mound, but you know that college going to take training and listening as well as performing. That's good. It's exactly what those Division I recruiters are looking for.
