Autobiography of My Dead Brother Narrator:

Who is the narrator, can she or he read minds, and, more importantly, can we trust her or him?

First Person (Central)

Our narrator is Jesse Givens, a fifteen-year old with a lot on his mind and no one to really share it with. Since his BFF Rise has transformed into someone he hardly feels like he knows, and he's at an age where he feels like he and his parents are practically from different planets, it's a good thing the book is in the first person—since Jesse doesn't verbalize much of his feelings, getting to hang out inside his head with his thoughts is key to our ability to really appreciate his experience.

The book's illustrations offer up another window into Jesse's world. Jesse's an artist, so the images are presented as though we're paging through his sketchbook. The drawings take us even further into his inner life—and also help us visualize the world around him.
