Independence Day Scenes 41-45 Summary

Scene 41

  • Back at the Area 51 ponderosa, Okun and the other scientists are operating on the alien, trying to get his biomechanical suit off.
  • It works, but there's a major downside: the alien inside is awake and attacks, apparently knocking out the scientists with some weird whirring noise.

Scene 42

  • Outside the operating room, the President and the others look in.
  • Okun comes flying against the window, and it's clear the alien has him around he neck and is speaking through him. He was kind of odd and unsettling before, but that's nothing compared to how creepy his is with alien speaking through him.
  • Okun/the alien demands to be released.
  • The President asks if they can have peace. The alien/Okun says no. Well, at least he's being honest?
  • When the President asks what they want, the alien says he wants them to die. Okay: on second thought, honesty isn't all that great.
  • Suddenly the alien starts emitting that weird noise that put the scientists out of commission, and apparently the President saw into its mind and learned the whole of the aliens' plans (because sure).
  • They're moving from planet to planet, gobbling up natural resources. The President says he wants to authorize nuking them. David will not like that idea.

Scene 43

  • Yep, sure enough: David and Connie are arguing about the President's decision—and their marriage, of course.

Scene 44

  • Meanwhile, Steve decides to "borrow" a helicopter from the base. Where do you suppose he's going?

Scene 45

  • In the command center, the President and his team are monitoring preparations for the nuclear attack against a spaceship over Houston.
  • They deploy, but the spaceship remains unscathed. Man, those are some strong shields.
  • They call back all the other planes heading to targets with nukes.
