When authors give shout outs to other great works, people, and events, it's usually not accidental. Put on your super-sleuth hat and figure out why.
There isn't a single literary, philosophical, or pop culture allusion in Insurgent. All the characters are shut off from the outside world (if it even still exists) and are ignorant about the likes of everyone from Charles Dickens to Miley Cyrus. Maybe we can at least get to see a Coca-Cola billboard or something if Tris ever manages to figure out what's on the other side of that fence.
