Teachers & SchoolsIcarus is most famous for not being able to follow simple instructions. He and his dad, Daedalus, the brilliant inventor, were trying to bust out of jail on Crete by flying off on wings that Daedalus had made out of feathers and wax. Daedalus very specifically told Icarus not to fly too close to the sea or too close to the sun. Of course, Icarus totally didn't listen and zoomed up to the sun as fast as his little wings could carry him. Before he knew it, wax was melting, feathers were flying everywhere, and he was tumbling to his death in the sea.
