We love looking at pictures, especially when they're as fun and well-drawn as the art in Persepolis. But there are words to read too. The good news is that the words are just as easy on the eyes as the art is. Marjane Satrapi's writing is as clean as her lines: simple, and with little detail.

However, you do have to keep up with a bunch of names and words that may be foreign to you: Azerbaijan. Mujahideen. There's even a small amount of French and German thrown in for good measure. Don't stress on pronunciation, and as for the meaning, Marjane has you covered there too. She includes handy footnotes for any word she thinks you might not understand. She must have gotten those wonderful explanation skills from her dad.
