She's Come Undone is a coming-of-age story with frank depictions of sex that might even make Judy Blume blush. Dolores touches herself, another woman touches Dolores, she's given porno magazines by her rapist—note that we said rapist—and she develops a fear of sex.
Eventually, with years of therapy, she's able to have a healthy attitude toward sex between consenting adults. She marries, and has lots of passionate lovemaking sessions with her husband, and only occasionally are these weird, like when she talks about his man milk. "Milk, I thought. Men's milk" (20.235). Yeah… Good luck enjoying your next bowl of cereal.
This being She's Come Undone, one of the most depressing novels ever, that relationship goes south, and becomes sexually abusive as well. But Dolores becomes un-undone and finds a nice, healthy relationship with another man later on. And she tells us all about what goes on between those sheets, too.
