The Color of Magic The Color of Magic / Chapter 11 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • Rincewind and Twoflower lunch at a small eating house.
  • Twoflower discusses his job, a strange occupation involving something called "Inn-sewer-ants" (1.11.16).
  • He explains that he assesses the odds of risks to assign his customers "inn-sewer-ants-polly-sea" (1.11.17), and if things go wrong, he'll reimburse the customer based on those odds.
  • Rincewind compares the idea to a bet, though he doesn't entirely understand.
  • He understands magic, however, and Twoflower says that reflected-sound-of-underground-spirits is a different thing than magic.
