- In a nutshell: there are a lot of very important people, and even some not so important people, and they're wearing totally fancy clothes.
- It's a party celebrating the Prince of Wales, and nearly this whole chapter is spent dwelling on what everyone is wearing. Seems like these people are totally into appearances.
