"Can you say, 'Absenteeism,' boys and girls?" Mister Rogers might ask that question upon noticing that his favorite bus driver hasn't been in his neighborhood much lately. Mental and physical stress often causes bus drivers to provide their own form of stress relief: staying home from work.
Absenteeism is common among drivers, as is disability leave. If you can stay strong (mentally and physically) for fifteen to twenty years, then you can score some highly-coveted perks such as more pay, longer hours, and blissfully quieter routes...aah.
