To be a CSR manager is to be the person behind the curtain; despite controlling the community-focused face of the company, you're not supposed to be seen.

While you're rarely the person on-camera, you are very much involved in the public relations side of business. The company's entire ethics compliance playbook will be developed by you, and this includes how it reaches out to the community. Every status update, tweet, and Instagram post that has anything to do with the company's world-facing image will come directly from you and your team.

Social outreach will be the name of the game, and you'll be making plenty of connections. As your company's resident tree-hugger, you'll be the one to meet with, and impress, your friendly neighborhood environmental group. Ditto the local scout troops, after-school programs, and small business coalitions.

Since you get to define your business' position on a number of social-minded topics, you'll eventually start developing street cred in the green community, among others. You're not going to be a rock star anytime soon, but you might still be able to rouse a hearty applause when you announce the latest plan for your new solar-powered distribution center. The solar panels were your idea, after all.
